Masquerade!!!

~Going to the ball, protected by a mask, surrounded by friends, and is still sulking. What kind of person is Romeo?!?!? It all comes down to his long, passionate lectures, the love that he will never have (so dramatic), and the love for Rosaline that was rejected.
~This passionate love for the dream of loving the mysterious girl has seriously overtaken Romeo's life. We find our young man sulking in the mist of a "great adventure." This sorrowful attitude that we a first introduced to is something to take note of. I know that we have all heard this, but I am just going to re-cap it anyway, so here it goes. . . Romeo's "love" for Rosaline is only something to show us, as readers, the true love passion Romeo will experience when he looks into Juliet's eyes. This "fake" love for Rosaline is a foundation for the truer and more passionate love that will be for Juliet. Rosaline is almost like a prop really, a stepping stone for Romeo, a pass towards the more beautiful treasures life and fate has to offer our naive characters. Fate, life, passion, and love. . .that is what is all building up in these first few scenes all leading to . . .well you all know the rest.
