A Glooming Peace This Morning With it Brings. .

~*~ With all good things, there comes good endings. I know that there is a ton of hard feelings torward the ending of Romeo and Juliet. For some the novel was the greatest tragedy they have ever read, but then for others the book was. . . well, not all that it was cracked up to be. Just out of curiosity I am wondering if you could rewrite part of the the book Romeo and Juliet, what would you change ? What did you like and what didn't you like? Basically I am asking, "Did you LiKE the book, or NOT?!?!?"
~*~For me, I didn't enjoy the ending, but I liked the book as a whole. The story-line, the plot, all was good, but the ending didn't satisfy my hunger. The reason I had problems with the ending is the fact that the fathers agree to lay Romeo and Juliet in the same tomb, and to place a golden angel over Juliet's grave. That is nice and all, but ARE THEY CRAZY? Many of you are rolling your eyes at me now, so I am going to explain myself. You can't fix a long-lasting hate in a couple of minutes with burying a dead kid and placing a rock over a grave and expect everything to be all happy. There is going to be some rough spots, and the fact that those are ignored at the end gets me going. (deep breath!) O.k., other than the end, the book was good for me. I won't mind reading it again!

If I could change the ending...

Juliet would have woken up before Romeo killed himself. The two would be overwhelmed by love and move to Mantua, safely out of reach and live happily ever after unplauged by their families.
