Free Type: Courage

In Miss Jane Pittman, courage played a huge part. Miss Jane had to be couragous many times throughout the book. She had to have courage when she set our for ohio with no idea how to get there. At the end of the story, she had to have the courage to stand up for her rights. She knew that she would get in trouble for 'demonstating' but she left anyway, to help Jimmy and to do what was right. This is also the type of courage displayed in Mockingbird. Atticus had to have the courage to fight for Tom Robinson even thought he knew he was going to lose, and be ridiculed by people who were prejudice.

This type of courage is the type that teens are faced with. It is not very common for us to have the oportunity to save a baby from a burning building, or something that will give us national fame. More often, we are faced with the choice to stand up for a student who is picked on and teased. Sometimes this takes more courage than saving a life, just because we go into it knowing that some people will in turn tease us for taking sides with this person. It's almost like social suicide. On the other hand, who would rebuke you for saving the baby? This makes it hard to do the right thing because of all the negative consequences. But then, if it's the right thing, why do we care what anyone else thinks?

ok, thats all. tell me your thoughts!
