Seventeen Shots

I was just reading the chapters assigned, and I really didn't think that these chapters were too great until BOOM! Atticus announces that Tom is dead. Shot seventeen times, because he was trying to escape! I couldn't belive it! I read the line several times, just to make sure I was really understaing what was going on!

I admire Scout for dressing up and acting like a lady for Aunty, but I sure hope she doesn't change herself just to please Aunt Alexandra! I love Scout being a little rebel, tomboy girl. I think that a great quality about her is that she doesn't care about what people say about her. I will be disappointed if she does change. Does anyone else feel like this?

If Tom had escaped, where do you think he would run to? I mean, he would definately have to leave town completely, so what would he gain by running then, he still wouldn't be with his family. If he didn't run, there was the chance for him to be released, and then he would live happily with his family. I just don't think Tom made the right decision by running.
