The trial is becoming painfully obvious...

Oh come on, Mr. Ewell did it! The trial began to heat up with Mayella on the bench, she really began to become aggressive, even mouthy with poor Atticus. I don't think she really means to be that way though, I bet that her Dad forced her to say that Tom Robinson raped her at all costs, or else he would give her a particularly nasty beating. So I think her anger mostly comes from fear of being beaten again.

I was also pretty upset with Mr. Gilmer for grilling Tom Robinson. He's harrassing a man who's obviously innocent. How could he hit Mayella with in her right eye with his left arm when all the muscle was torn from his left arm back when he was a child? Mayella also seemed to be getting her stories mixed up, which is often what happens when a person is lying.
P.S. I apologize if I offended anyone by using the "n" word in my earlier posts to describe the quotes, next time, I'll use asterix symbols to make the point clear.

I agree with you, and i might add she got silent when Atticus asked her where the children were, that's when I realized something was amiss. Then when Tom hold his story I knew it was true because Mayelle hesitated on where the kids were.
