Ewell the Bantam Rooster

Finally, To Kill a Mockingbird gets into law! I thought it was sort of funny how high and mighty Mr. Ewell seemed when he appeared on the witness stand and how Scout described him as "puffing out his chest in pride." However, he always struck me as more of a pig than a bantam rooster. The Ewells are basically the underbelly of Maycomb and supposedly they're all the same, except Mayella might be different. They lived near a nasty old dump and yet Mayella supposedly brought in some beautiful geraniums and tended them all by herself as carefully as Miss Maudie, so I'm anxious to see what her personality is like.

During the trial, it becomes painfully aware that Mr. Ewell dealt the blows to Mayella when Atticus tells him to write his name. He wrote his name with his left hand, and Mr. Heck said that Mayella's bruises were primarily on the right side of her face. Verrryyy suspicious... I'm looking forward to reading more!
