Albert Cluveau=Bob Ewell

Everyone was expecting Ned's death, but it was still so sad when it finally happened. He was shot by Albert Cluveau coming home from getting lumber for his school. Everyone was devastated at his death, and everyone knew it was Cluveau. When the two boys who were with Ned gave their testimonies to the sheriff, he accused them of being drunk and not knowing what they were talking about. This event is a connection to Mockingbird because everyone knew that Cluveau killed Ned, just chose to ignore it. This is just like everyone knowing Tom was innocent, but being scared to stand up for a black man, or take his side over a white man's. Albert Cluveau and Bob Ewell remind me of each other because in my opininion their both ignorant trash. They both let their ignorance drive their prejudice that causes them to carry out terrible actions.

Ernest Gaines has done a great job so far of telling the story and even keeping the dialect of Jane Pittman. He has wrote 8 other books, and if you would like to know about them the link at the end of the blog gives some information on Gaines and a summary of the books. That's all I have for now...

Good post! I really like this book now that I am farther into it! I didn't make that connection to Albert Cluveau and Bob Ewell are alike! Good job! I makes me really made that the police haven't done anything about Albert shooting Ned, but I guess that is what happens when you are black. It is sooo sad and horrible. I don't see how Jane keeps going.
