Whites Served First
I knew the world had racism and I know it still does, but was completely unaware of how much.
Thunder is killing me to read because of how racist the people are in it. This weekend I read about the main character, Cassie, going into a butcher shop to buy some meat. She placed an order and patiently began to wait. Not long after that a white girl walked in and did the same, she also placed an order and patiently began to wait. 20 minutes or so went by and the butcher gave the white girl her order. Cassie went up to the butcher a little confused and told him that she was there first. The butcher gave no reply. So, Cassie went behind the counter and tugged on his shirt because she thought he did not hear her. When she asked a second time the butcher told her, she had to wait because she was black. Cassie was not happy with this, and began to make a big scene. The butcher had it and made her leave the store.
On Cassie's way home another white girl bumped into her on purpose, and tried to make Cassie appologize, Cassie wouldn't. The little girls dad came out and forced Cassie off the sidewalk the two were walking on into the street on her be-hind. The man was furious when his daughter told him the Cassie had purposely bumped into her (which she didn't) and wouldnt appoligize. Cassie would not appoligize because she didn 't do anything wrong, but Big Ma showed up and made her. Cassie mumbled out the words and took off crying.
I can assure you the outcome of that would have been different if I would have had anything to do with it. Once again I HATE THAT! It drives me up with wall's with rage. The dad of that girl would have been eating asphalt if i was there.
Hope you guys are enjoying your book's, see ya tomorrow,
Peace

I don't know how some african-americans can handle the racisim towards them. I mean, if I was Cassie in that grocery store, I would have exploded to that butcher guy! Cassie has alot of self-control. How old is she?
