Bravery

All of the characters in Miss Jane show alot of courage. Jane, only being twelve, is so brave. I would never just set out on foot all by myself, and go up to random houses asking people if they had food or water they would be willing to share with me. It shows how much will and determination Jane has to make it to Ohio.

Although, in chapter 10, it seems that Jane has decided to slow down on the thought of going to Ohio. She starts working in the fields again for a man names Mr. Bone. Jane, at first, is getting paid six dollars (I think that it is dollars, but I am not positive) a month, but it is raised to ten dollars since she proved to Mr. Bone that she even though she is young, she works just as hard a the grown women.

Ned is getting an education, now that they are with Mr. Bone. I thought that it was neat that they had their teacher over for dinner one evening. I have noticed that Jane has grown up awefully fast. I mean, Jane now is taking care of Ned, supporting herself by working, and is learning more and more about life everyday. Instead of just thinking about herself, she now thinks about what would be best for Ned too. That shows character.

Hope everyone's weekend was good!

I agree that Jane is very "grown-up" for her age. I think that during that time, kids had to grow up. There was no time for play, they were forced into an adult world. Jane was forced into this postitstion through leaving the plactation and basically raising Ned. Jane was a strong person and had an amazing soul. (she was a little person in a big world)

Thanks for commenting me! I just realized that her and Scout are alike in that way. I mean by being smart for their age.

I also wondered about Jane stopping her quest for Ohio. I wonder if she will ever make it there.
