Walking the Same Path

It seems that one subject seems to find its way into the books that we have been reading in class this year. The memo that seems to be in display through all of the novels contains the message about racism. It sceams out during the trail sceen in To Kill A Mockingbird. When students are treated differently in a classroom in Roll of Thunder. Then there is the hate between people and the drive of killing in Jane Pittman. The cause of all of these horrific crimes is all because of the color of one's skin. How silly it seems to us today. How foolish one must be to hate another just because of their race and nationality. But yet, we look around us and sometimes wonder out loud, is it still there? Many years have passed since the Civil War, yes, but the hurt and the scars it left, are they still tender? How can we tell? If you guys have any stories, or comments, I would love to hear them. (Racism, where has it gone?)

i think that racism is a lot better than it was in the past. though its true its still here, theres not really anything we can do to change the way people view things its mainly up to them.

Way great post! I agree with wild_emo_child, racisim is still here. It maybe isn't as big, but everyone judges everyone. I mean, when you get on a plane and see a man who looks like they could be Afganistan, don't you worry? I do, and I know it is wrong, but no one fogets things. Say you are walking down the street and an african-american comes up and muggs you. Wouldn't you be scared every time you walk down the road and see a different african-american? Everyone form time to time feels it. I know it is wrong and we are taught not to, but it is there and it happens.
