Faith, Fights, and Floods

I just finished my reading for tonight, and Jane discovered God and started to go to church. I found it interesting how her story about carring the heavy load and crossing the river reminded me of Jesus in the dessert for 40 days and being tempted by the devil the whole time. Did anyone else think of that?
Man, Ernest J. Gaines reminded me so much of Harper Lee while I was reading the chapters tonight. He introduced so many knew characters. The two that stick out are the brothers Timmy and Tee Bob. It is weird how Timmy is black and Tee white. That was really rare for back then. Anyway, I really didn't understand exactly what happened when Timmy got in that fight. Can anyone help me out?
So, I got pretty interested in this flood of 1927 Jane keeps talking about. I tried to find a link about the flood, but all that would come up on goolge was only books about it. The books didn't really give that good of information on it. Anyway, the flood finally happens, and I didn't realize how bad it was. She was talking about houses being carried away with people still in them! It is true about what Jane said about rivers running free, and that you can't hold back nature, since it was here first. I mean, we here about dams breaking and levee not working every now and then. Jane was being very wise when she told us to wait and see that no man can hold back nature. She is really smart, and has yet to not impress me.
